We were not sure if it was really the case to make this list of “pro” points about our main PoP product but, in the end, we decided that the time had come to share with all our loyal followers the most important reasons why our paper filter tip booklet has become the most appreciated, enjoyed and used paper filter tip in Italy.
1 – Quality first
Since the very first prototype studies dating back to 1999, our main attention has focused on the kind of paper to be used to create this special smoking accessory. We tested over 1000 different blends of cellulose in various thickness and grammage during the phase of the prototype development, until we reached what it is now to us the perfect paper formula.
2 – No ink-printing on the paper
Any kind of ink-printing would make the paper filter tip toxic for the user. This is the reason why we prefer to concentrate on the graphic decoration of the booklet cover, leaving the rolling paper leave perfectly white and unmarred.
3 – “Hyper-rolling” paper
Being a wood-fibre free product, our paper can be defined as a “hyper-rolling” paper: a simple movement of the fingers can be enough to roll it in a perfectly cylindric shape, which makes rolling the paper leave quite easy and quick. Here lies the secret strength of our paper filter tips!
4 – No pre-cut lines
The “hyper-rolling” quality of this paper allows users to shape it in any form they choose with no need to have pre-cut lines arranged on the leave, which can often become more of a trouble rather than a help in rolling the tip.
5 – Selected secondary fibres
The paper employed to create PoP Filters booklets is not obtained by knocking down trees. The cellulose used is of agricultural derivation only (rice, corn, hemp…), with a special consideration for Nature.
6 – Acid free paper
The transformation of cellulose is obtained without the use of any kind of acid, which makes paper a-toxic.
7 – Heavy metal free paper
The paper used to make PoP booklets does not contain heavy metals like lead, chromium, cadmium and mercury, which would make cellulose highly toxic.
8 – Elemental chlorine free paper
Only elemental chlorine free products are used to bleach the paper, as chlorine would make it toxic.
9 - Certifications
These last 4 points represent 4 of the 5 PoP Filters certifications, a seal of guarantee of the quality and commitment with which we have developed and improved the filter over the years.
During smoking, the embers of the cigarette reach 880 degrees centigrade: it is clear that the elimination of all these toxic substances makes our product potentially less harmful than the use of less refined raw materials from a qualitative point of view. The habit of smoking is already harmful, the PoP Filters filter tries in every way not to further aggravate a situation which is in itself dangerous for the health of smokers.
10 – Collectible
What makes PoP
Filters paper tip booklets really special and unique is the idea of
making them collectible. In fact, one side of the booklet is always
decorated with the drawing of a funny character (with 12 new characters
for each new collection) which represents the parody portrait of a real
person chosen among PoP Filters’ best friends and collaborators. The
very first collection portrayed the 3 PoP Filters’ founders together
with some of their closest friends. It was just the first step in a long
series of successive new collections that are launched on the market
about every six months.

Bonus – An “unsuspecting” little book
Let’s just say it plainly: you would never guess what’s this little paper booklet’s use unless you’re a Slim size cigarette rolling paper smoker! Our fans and users often happen to email us telling tales of moms or grannies using the pages of this little booklet to write down phone numbers or to jot down short notes on it, as if it was just a small notebook thing... Brilliant, indeed.
